Thor: The Dark World is an American superhero film, released on 8 November 2013 (USA), directed by Alan Taylor and based on characters from the Marvel comics created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby.

Thor (Chris Hemsworth) teams up with his brother and nemesis Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to try and thwart the attempts of the films antagonist, Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) the ruler of the Dark Elves, from exacting his revenge on the universe. Other characters in the film include; Odin (Anthony Hopkins), Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), Heimdall (Idris Elba), Algrim/Kurse (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard) and Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings).

The film picked up 3 awards; Coolest Character of the Year (Loki), Best Global Actor (Chris Hemsworth) and Best Foreign Villain of the Year (Tom Hiddleston).
