Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope is an American sci-fi/fantasy film, directed by George Lucas and was released on 25 May 1977.

The film is the first instalment of the Star Wars film series in general, and kicks off the original trilogy. It centers around Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and his journey to become a Jedi Master, revealing lots of secrets along the way. Other main characters throughout the film include; Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness), Grand Moff Tarkin (Peter Cushing), C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), R2-D2 (Kenny Baker), Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) and Darth Vader (David Prowse and voiced by James Earl Jones).
