Neil Armstrong was an American astronaut and engineer. He was born on 5 August 1930 in Ohio, USA and passed away on 25 August 2012 in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, aged 82.
He was the first person to walk on the moon and, along with Buzz Aldrin, they took the infamous flight in the Apollo 11 lunar spacecraft in 1969. This was a captivating moment in history and he will forever be remembered for the feat, and his first words “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”. He also took part in the Gemini program, starting with Gemini 8 in 1965, which was unsuccessful and then Gemini 11, where the team successfully completed the objectives. After his career with NASA, he became a professor at the University of Cincinnati, teaching aerospace engineering for eight years. He was a spokesman for various companies, including, Chrysler, Cinergy and United Airlines. He took part in an expedition to the North Pole, along with other reputable explorers in 1985 and in 2010, he provided the voice for Dr. Jack Morrow in the animated sci-fi film, Quantum Quest: A Cassini Space Odyssey.
