Mel Sterland is a British former professional football player. He was born on 1 October 1961 in Sheffield, England.

The majority of his career was spent with Sheffield Wednesday (1978-89), making 347 appearances and scoring 49 goals, followed by his next long stint with Leeds United (1989-94), making 114 appearances and scoring 16 goals overall. He has also played for Rangers, Boston United and the England national team.
