Jon Pertwee was a British actor. He was born on 7 July 1919 in Chelsea, London, England and passed away on 20 May 1996 in Connecticut, USA, aged 76.

He made his film debut, in a minor role, on A Yank at Oxford (1938) and has appeared and starred in many television and film roles over the years. He was best known for his roles as various characters on the BBC radio show, The Navy Lark (1959-77), as the third doctor in Doctor Who (1970-83) and as the title character in Worzel Gummidge (1979-81). Some of his other acting work includes:-

• Carry On Screaming! (1966)

• Jackanory (1966-67)

• SuperTed (1983-86)

• Carry on Columbus (1992)
