John Rhys-Davies is a Welsh actor. He was born on 5 May 1944 in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.

He made his television debut as Gareth in Crossroads (1964) and went on to appear and star in many television and film projects throughout his career. He is best known for his roles as Sallah in the Indiana Jones films, Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), Agent Michael Malone in The Untouchables (1993-94), Maximilian Arturo in Sliders (1995-97) and Gimli in The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001-03).
