Jean Tigana is a French retired professional football player and manager. He was born on 23 June 1955 in Bamako, French Sudan.
He began his football career in the ASPTT Marseille youth team (1965-72) and has continued to play for French teams throughout his career. He has played for Toulon (1975-78), Lyon (1978-81), Bordeaux (1981-89) and Marseille (1989-91), making a total of 487 appearances and 36 goals through his senior career. He has also played for the national team of France (1980-88), making 52 appearances and scoring 1 goal. Once he retired from actively playing, he then moved on to performing as manager for various teams, including Fulham (2000-03).
