James Coburn was an American actor. He was born on 31 August 1928 in Laurel, Nebraska, USA and passed away on 18 November 2002 in Beverly Hills, California, USA, aged 74.

He made his television debut as Sam Chandler in an episode of Studio One in Hollywood (1957) and went on to appear and star in many television and film projects throughout his career. He was best known for his roles as Britt in The Magnificent Seven (1960) Louis Sedgwick 'The Manufacturer' in The Great Escape (1963), Lew Lathrop in The Honkers (1972) and provided the voice for Mr. Waternoose in Monsters, Inc. (2001). Some of his other acting work includes:-

  • Klondike (1960-61)

  • Our Man Flint (1966)

  • Duck, You Sucker (1971)

  • Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid (1973)

  • Affliction (1997)

Awards and Achievements:

  • Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (1994)

  • Maverick Award (1995)

  • Oscar for Best Supporting Actor - Affliction (1999)

  • Lifetime Achievement Award (1999 / 2002)
