Idris Elba is a British actor, writer and producer. He was born on 6 September 1972 in Hackney, London, England.

He made his television debut as an extra in an episode of 2point4 Children (1994) and has gone on to appear and star in many television and film projects throughout his career. His best known roles include, Russell 'Stringer' Bell in The Wire (2002-04), DCI John Luther in Luther (2010-19) and Heimdall in the following films; Thor (2011), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).
