Ian Botham is a former England cricket player and team captain, currently working on television as a sports commentator. He was born on 24 November 1955 in Heswall, Cheshire, England.

Regarded as one of the best all-rounder's in Test cricket, he had held the record for the highest number of wickets taken by an England bowler until 17 April 2015.

• OBE for services to cricket and his charity work (1992)

• BBC Sports Personality of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award (2004)

• Appointed Knight Bachelor for his cricket achievements and his work for Leukaemia research (2007)
