Graham Gooch is a British retired cricket player. He was born on 23 July 1953 in Whipps Cross, Leytonstone, England.
He played for the Essex county team (1973-97), where he was a part of many victories, including six county championships during 1979-92. He has acted as captain for both England and Essex, one of over 25 players to score over 100 first-class centuries and is regarded as being the most successful international batsmen of his time. He has played 118 Test matches (8,900 runs and a top score of 333) and played in 125 ODI matches (4,290 runs and a top score of 142). Once he retired from competitive sport, he turned to coaching and commentating work.
