Freddy Krueger is the main fictional character in the American horror film series, A Nightmare on Elm Street, which was created by Wes Craven and portrayed by Robert Englund (1984-2003). After the first film in 1984 they were followed up by; Freddy's Revenge (1985), Dream Warriors (1987), The Dream Master (1988), The Dream Child (1989), Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991), Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994), Freddy vs. Jason (2003) and A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010), a reboot of the original film and Krueger was played by Jackie Earle Haley.

Krueger was a serial killer, who targeted children, and after the system failed to bring him down, the parents in the neighbourhood took matters into their own hands and eventually, Krueger was burned alive. However, his spirit remained, and he took vengeance upon the locals, targeting the teenagers in their dreams. The character has become an iconic figure and has been voted in many lists and publications as one of the greatest villains in film history.
