The 2005 Ashes Series was an event pitting England vs. Australia which began on 21 July at Lord’s Cricket Ground, London and culminated in the final on 12 September at The Oval, London.

The event was a pivotal moment for the England team who had not seen a win since 1986-87 and had a huge rivalry with the Australian team, who at the start of the competition held the Ashes urn. The England team picked up the victory with a 2-1 victory over the five Test matches. Michael Vaughan was the captain of the England team and the players who made impact over the course of the event were, Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen, with Flintoff making Player of the Series alongside Australia’s Shane Warne, and also earning the Compton-Miller Medal. Among other accomplishments from the England team, Pietersen had the most runs at 473 and most sixes at 14, Vaughan earned the highest individual innings at 166 and highest match total at 180, Andrew Strauss had the most centuries at 2, Marcus Trescothick had the most fours at 64 and Flintoff had the most wickets at 24.
