Easy Rider is an American indie drama film, directed by Dennis Hopper (who also co-wrote and starred in the film) and was released on 14 July 1969 (USA). Peter Fonda also produced, co-wrote and starred in the film. The film focused on two bikers, Wyatt (Fonda) and Billy (Hopper) who, after successfully smuggling drugs, take the money earned on their trip to Louisiana for the Mardi Gras event. The film also stars Jack Nicholson as George Hanson, who the duo meet along their travels. It was a highly praised film by critics and was added to a list of Greatest Movies in 2004. The film earned 8 awards, including Best First Work for Dennis Hopper at the Cannes Film Festival in 1969 and 4 total awards for Best Supporting Actor for Jack Nicholson.
