Dexys Midnight Runners are a British pop group, formed in Birmingham, England 1978. Their sound is an influence of soul, pop, folk rock and new wave and they reached high success during the mid-1980s.
The group has seen many members join, the original line-up began with; Kevin Rowland (lead vocals, bass, guitar and piano), Kevin 'Al' Archer (guitar, vocals), Jim Paterson (trombone), Pete Williams (bass, vocals), Pete Saunders (keyboards), John Jay (drums), Steve Spooner and Geoff Blythe (saxophone) and Geoff Kent (trumpet).
Their hits include; Geno (1980), There, There, My Dear (1980), Come On Eileen (1982) and Jackie Wilson Said (I'm in Heaven When You Smile) (1982). They released 5 albums, with Too-Rye-Ay (1982) being their most successful, reaching the UK charts at number 2.
