David Jason is a British actor. He was born on 2 February 1940 in Edmonton, London, UK.

He is best known for his television roles as Granville in Open All Hours (1973-85), Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter in Only Fools and Horses (1981-2003), Pop Larkin in The Darling Buds of May (1991-93) and D.I./Inspector Jack Frost in A Touch of Frost (1992-2010). He also voiced two of the most iconic children's characters in the 1980s, firstly as Danger Mouse (1981-92) and secondly, Count Duckula (1988-93). He is one of the most loved actors in the UK and was voted number one in TV's 50 Greatest Stars back in 2006. Some of his other acting work includes:-

  • Porridge (1975-77)

  • The Wind in the Willows (1984-88)

  • The BFG (1989)

  • Still Open All Hours (2013-17)

Awards and Achievements:

  • BAFTA Awards (1988/91/97/2003)

  • British Comedy Award for Best TV Comedy Actor (1990/92/97)

  • Received an OBE (1993) and was knighted for his services to acting and comedy (2005)

  • NTA for Most Popular Actor (1997/2001/02/04)

  • Lifetime Achievement Award (2001)
