David Essex is a British singer/songwriter and actor. He was born on 23 July 1947 in Plaistow, London, England. His biggest hits, that made Top 3 in the UK, include:

• Rock On (1973)

• Gonna Make You A Star (1974)

• Hold Me Close (1975)

• Oh What A Circus (1978)

• A Winter's Tale (1982)

He burst onto the music industry scene in the early 60s, with his debut single, And the Tears Came Tumbling Down, in 1965. It wasn't until the 1970s where he really made his mark, becoming a sensation amongst the teens especially. During his successful music career, he has had 19 Top 40 singles in the UK, which includes two number ones, and also has 16 Top 40 albums under his belt.

He also tried his hand at acting, his first proper role being in the stage musical, Godspell in 1971, alongside some minor appearances in the films Assault and All Coppers Are… But his most notable television appearance would be as Eddie Moon in the popular BBC soap opera, Eastenders in 2011.
