David Prowse is a British actor, former professional bodybuilder and weightlifter. He was born on 1 July 1935 in Bristol, England.

He began his career path as a professional bodybuilder and weightlifter, winning the British Heavyweight Weightlifting Championship in 1962, 1963 and 1964. He also competed in the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Australia. He was the Green Cross Code Man in the British advertisement campaign in 1975. He is perhaps best known for his role as Darth Vader in the original trilogy, however the character was voiced by James Earl Jones. Some of his other acting work includes:-

• The Kindness of Strangers (2010)

• Mission Backup Earth (2016)

Awards and Achievements:

• Received an MBE for his contributions to charity and road safety (2000)
