Bullitt is an American film, in the crime action thriller genre, released on 17 October 1968 and directed by Peter Yates. The film is loosely based on the 1963 crime novel, Mute Witness, written by Robert L. Fish. It stars Steve McQueen as Lieutenant Frank Bullitt, Robert Vaughn as Walter Chalmers and Jacquelien Bissett as Cathy. Bullitt has received great reviews from critics and fans alike and has one of the most famous car chase scenes that people still talk about to this day.  The film has scooped up 7 awards, including an Oscar for Best Film Editing.
