Alan Shearer is a retired professional football player. He was born on 13 August 1970 in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

He began his professional career playing for Southampton (1988-92) making 118 appearances and scoring 23 goals. He spent the majority of his career with Newcastle United (1996-2006), making 303 appearances, scoring 148 goals and holds records as one of their top goalscorers in history (206) and the most European goals scored (30). He has also played for the England national team (1992-2000). He went on to appear on BBC's Match of the Day.

• Premier League Golden Boot (1994-95 / 1995-96 / 1996-97)
• Premier League Player of the Year (1994-95)
• Received his OBE (2001), CBE (2016) for services to the North East England community
• FWA Tribute Award (2001)
• Inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame (2004)
