The Lord of the Rings is an epic fantasy film series based on the novels by J.R.R. Tolkien and directed by Peter Jackson.

We were treated to a trilogy series, titled in order, The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Two Towers (2002) and The Return of the King (2003) all filmed in New Zealand. It turned out to be one of the biggest films to ever be made, with all films being done simultaneously over eight years and is one of the highest grossing film series of all time! They won multiple awards and nominations and had many huge name actors starring in the films, such as, Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee, Sean Bean and Elijah Wood.
