Terry Gilliam is a British animator, screenwriter, film director, actor and comedian. He was born on 22 November 1940 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA and became a British citizen in 1968.
He began his career as an animator, doing cartoon strips before moving to Britain, where he began animating and writing for the children's show, Do Not Adjust Your Set (1968) where he met his future Monty Python companions. He then started animating for the Monty Python's Flying Circus (1969-74) television series and went on to become a full fledged member, taking on various roles in the Monty Python universe. He also directed various films, including Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), The Meaning of Life (1983) and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009).
