Steve Davis is a British retired professional snooker player. He was born on 22 August 1957 in Plumstead, London, England.
He began playing professionally in 1978 and during the 80s was one of many great and popular players of his time. He had many victories in the sport, including winning the World Championship six times. He made it to the finals of the infamous 1985 World Championship against Dennis Taylor which garnered a record 18.5 million viewers in Britain. Alongside Taylor, he has faced off against many snooker greats, including, Terry Griffiths, Jimmy White and John Parrott. He is also known for providing commentary during competing for the sport, writing books on snooker and publishing three cookbooks and has appeared in the 2013 I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!. He retired from competitive play in 2016, but continues to work on commentary for the sport.
