Steve Coppell is a British retired professional football player and manager. He was born on 9 July 1955 in Liverpool, England.
He was best known for his playing career at Manchester United (1975-83), where he made 322 appearances, scored 53 goals and helped the team to earn the FA Cup in 1977 and also in the same year, shared the FA Charity Shield with Liverpool when it came to a goalless draw. He also played for the England national team (1977-83), where he made 42 appearances, scored 7 goals and unfortunately during his time there, he suffered a knee injury which would ultimately lead him to announcing his retirement as an active player in 1983 at only 28 years old. He would then take on a managerial role in the sport, heading up clubs such as, Manchester City (1996), Reading (2003-09) and Crystal Palace, which he managed four separate times.
