Roy Barraclough was a British actor and comedian. He was born on 12 July 1935 in Preston, Lancashire, England and passed away on 1 June 2017 in Greater Manchester, England, aged 81.
He began his career path as an entertainer and performing in theatre. He made his television debut in a minor role on It’s Dark Outside (1965) and had gone on to appear in many television roles throughout his career. His most prominent roles have been as Mr Cobbledick in Pardon My Genie (1972-73) and as Alec Gilroy in Coronation Street (1965-98). He was also best known for his comedy double act with Les Dawson, appearing in various shows created by Dawson, which includes the iconic drag act, Cissie and Ada.
