Roald Dahl was a British author and poet. He was born on 13 September 1916 in Llandaff, Cardiff, Wales, England, and passed away on 23 November 1990, aged 74.
He is best known for his children's books, the majority of which were made to film. His most successful and memorable books include; James and the Giant Peach (1961), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (1964), Fantastic Mr Fox (1970), The Twits (1980), George's Marvellous Medicine (1981), The BFG (1982), The Witches (1983) and Matilda (1988).
Revolting Rhymes is a collection of poems, written by Roald Dahl, illustrated by Quentin Blake and was published in 1982. The book contains poems inspired by six fairy tales; Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs. The themes in all of Dahl's work, is comical and has dark undertones, with standout characters and always contains a moral to the story.
