Rick Astley is a British singer, songwriter and radio personality. He was born on 6 February 1966 in Newton-le-Willows, St Helens, Merseyside, England.

He is best known for his number one hit single, Never Gonna Give You Up, which was released in 1987 and spent five weeks at the top of the UK charts, and also became number one in many countries around the world. The song also became a viral meme on the Web from 2007, called “rickrolling”, where people were tricked into clicking on a link for something entirely different and it would lead to his music video instead.
