Peter Shilton is a British professional goalkeeper in football. He was born on 18 September 1949 in Leicester, England.
He is known as one of the greatest goalkeepers in history, and has been ranked in the Top 10 keepers of the 20th century back in 2000. He holds many records in the sport, including playing the most games for the England national team (1970-90), making and impressive 125 appearances. He has played for various clubs over his 30 year career, most notably, Leicester City (1966-74), making 286 appearances, he even managed to score a goal against Southampton in 1967 when he was just 18 years old and he helped the club to earn the FA Charity Shield in 1971. One of his most successful career highlights was his time spent with Nottingham Forest (1977-82), making 202 appearances and helping the club to earn the League Cup (1978-79), FA Charity Shield (1978), European Cup (1978-79 / 1979-80) and the European Super Cup (1979). He has also played for Southampton (1982-87), Derby County (1987-92) and managed the Plymouth Argyle team (1992-95). He joined various celebrity's in the 2010 series of Strictly Come Dancing, lasting until week 4.
