Mark Rylance is a British actor, playwright and theatre director. He was born on 18 January 1960 in Kent, England.
He began his career in theatre during the late 70s and has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, which included playing the role of Hamlet (1988). In 1995, he would become the first artistic director at the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and would not only perform on stage, but he also directed many plays too. He had many roles on the stage, including as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet (1989), Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing (1993), Cleopatra in Antony and Cleopatra (1999) and the title character in Richard III (2012). Not only was he a huge presence on the stage, winning Tony Awards for his work, but he appeared and starred in roles on film and television, including as Sir Thomas Boleyn in The Other Boleyn Girl (2008), Rudolf Abel in Bridge of Spies (2015) and the title character in The BFG (2016).
