James Garner was an American actor and producer. He was born on 7 April 1928 in Norman, Oklahoma, USA and passed away on 19 July 2014 in Los Angeles, California, USA, aged 86.
He made his television debut in an episode of Warner Brothers Presents (1956) and appeared and starred in many television and film projects throughout his career. He was best known for his roles as Bret Maverick in Maverick (1957-62 / 1981-82), Robert Hendley 'The Scrounger' in The Great Escape (1963), Lt. Commander Charles Edward Madison in The Americanization of Emily (1964), Jim Rockford in The Rockford Files (1974-80), Jim Egan in 8 Simple Rules (2003-05) and Duke in The Notebook (2004).
