David Gower is a British retired cricket player. He was born on 1 April 1957 in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England.
He began his professional playing career back in 1975, when he joined the Leicestershire squad, and since then has played in 117 Test matches (8,231 runs) and 114 One Day Internationals (3,170 runs) and at the time, was one of the most capped and high scoring players for the England team. He helped the team to victory in the 1985 Ashes against Australia (3-1) and has acted as captain for England during the 80s. He would retire from active play in 1993 and has worked as a cricket commentator for Sky Sports.
