Andy Ritchie is an English former football player and manager. He was born 28th November 1960 in Manchester.
He started his football career in 1977 with Manchester United, where at 18 he scored his first hat-trick and then another at 19. He was soon sold onto Brighton & Hove Albion where he remained for three years. Next stop was Leeds United in 1983 for four years, achieving another two hat-tricks and helped get to the semi-finals of the FA-Cup (1986-87). His longest stay was with Oldham Athletic (1987-1995) where he was part of many of the clubs successes, including, a run at the Football League Cup final in 1990 and also the FA Cup final in the same year. He also had a short stint with Scarborough and then returned to Oldham Athletic until 1999.
He began his managing career in 1998 with Oldham Athletic, starting off miserably but midway through did turn the success of the club around by beating Wigan's unbeaten record. He left the club in 2001 where he joined Barnsley as their managers assistant until 2005 where he took over the reigns, but it was a short stay as he was sacked in 2006. Ritchie then joined with Huddersfield Town in 2007, again for a short spell, he left a year later after a rough defeat against his former club Oldham Athletic.
